A couple of reminders...
As we move into the warmer weather (sometimes!) please remember to ensure that children have their hats and water bottles each day.
Headlice are an ongoing problem here, and in all schools, so please be vigilant in checking hair and always ensuring that hair shoulder length or longer is tied back securely.
2022 Classes…
I am very pleased that I am now able to inform you of our class structure for 2022. Please be aware that there are many factors that need to be taken into consideration when determining the class model for each year. We spend a great deal of time developing a range of models and then determining which one will work best for teaching and learning.

Improvements to our school environment continue....
We are so pleased to share with you our completed murals, led by the Student Parliament. We have had very positive feedback from our students, particularly about how well these fit into our school environment. Well done to the Student Parliament for your input into the development of these.
Kind regards, Karen
Many of our classes are going on End of Year Celebrations to the Riverside Pool. As per the school and Department of Education Sun Protection Polices all students must wear a rash vest or t-shirt or other appropriate clothing when swimming. Students who are not wearing appropriate cover will have to remain in the shade. When your child's class is participating in these exciting events, please apply sunscreen before sending them to school. The school will have sunscreen available so that students can reapply, however if your child has sensitivities please pack their own.

On Tuesday the 9th November, Laura H, Sam C and Ari O had a special meeting with Marine Biologist Jonny Stark for our Socrates Café Extension Group. Our current focus is climate change and circular revolution so we learnt about his work on the sea floor in Antarctica. Some things we learnt were:
- The ice in Antarctica can be 1.5m – 2m thick.
- The water in Antarctica is so still that visibility can be up to 100m underwater.
- There used to be a rubbish piles lying around the glaciers of Antarctica, but thankfully it was all cleaned up in 2004.
- And finally some animals that live in the freezing cold waters are scallops, star fish, ugly fish, sea anemone, Antarctic cod, sea slugs and sea kelp.
It was really informative and exciting.

In Kinder Olsen we have been investigating life cycles. We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.
Some of our wonderings included:
“I wonder how the caterpillar breathes while in the egg?” – Campbell
“I wonder why caterpillars have lots of feet?” – Daniel Lin
“Why do caterpillars make cocoons?” – Marley
“I wonder if caterpillars would like eating pineapple?” – Felix
“Why do butterfly’s flap around?” -Taylen
Tip of the Week
When chidren play with blocks they are problem solving, measuring, extending their vocabularly and fine motor skills and using their spatial awareness skills to name a few. Playing with blocks is invaluable.
If you don’t have any blocks at home, empty boxes and containers are just as good!
