Welcome to our last newsletter for the 2021 school year! Our apologies for the delay with this....SchoolZine have been experiencing some technical problems that have been resolved this morning.
Today we have posted a message on our Facebook page to the Hillcrest PS community in regards to the tragic incident yesterday. Our School Association have also posted a message as well. I am sure that the entire Norwood School Communities thoughts are with all those impacted by this tragedy. Please be aware that our government has a range of support services in place for anyone requiring external support in regards to this tragedy.
The holiday season is always a time for most to connect with family and friends with much reflection of the year that has been. Please take some time to reflect on the many positives that 2021 has brought with it. Enjoy your family and take time for joy, whilst keeping in mind that this time for some will be without the joy that many of us can have.
I wish each and everyone of our school community a happy and safe Christmas and New Year, and a restful break for our students and staff.
Kind regards, Karen

A huge congratulations to all Year 6 students on their participation in the 2021 Presentation Evening. All students displayed enormous mutual respect to each other, their teachers, family members and the school community as a whole. The genuine nature of interactions between staff and students on stage was an element that makes NPS a fantastic place.
Congratulations to all award winners and a special thank you to award donors and sponsors. NPS are so grateful for the school community support and as was said on the night, we cannot work in isolation.
Congratulations to all our award recipients

The Year 6 Celebration Dinner was held at the Launceston Golf Club on Tuesday evening and all in attendance should be congratulated for their mature approach to such an event. Students were able to have a sing and dance at the end of the celebration and this was great to see. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Year 6 teachers for their time, nurturing support and guidance for our students over the past 12 months. Without their ongoing work, students would not have had such opportunity, success and enjoyment throughout the year.
To the Year 6 leavers of Norwood Primary School, congratulations on all you have achieved. We wish you all the best in your future endeavours.
Congratulations to those students who were acknowledged in our ECE and Primary Awards Assemblies.
Four students from each class were recognised for exceptional demonstration of the DoE Values- Respect, Courage, Growth and Aspiration.

It’s a Wrap
Wow what a year it has been. Our fundraising target for 2021 was $10,000. We have ended up nearly doubling that, reaching just over $18,500. Next year you will see this profit being spent around the school, look out for the fun new seating areas the children will be able to enjoy.
We have also purchased an EFTPOS machine and BBQ and are currently planning on fairy floss and popcorn machines as an investment into our future fundraising.
A number of events throughout the year contributed to this fabulous result, an election day BBQ, Easter raffle, mothers and father day stalls, disco, end of year picnic and of course our main event Winterfest.
Next year our major fundraiser will be the School Fair to be held on Saturday 2nd April. Please keep an eye out here and on our Facebook page on how you can help.
The School Association are a valuable part of the school community, with our past fundraising providing students with additional resources to further enrich their learning that may otherwise not have been possible, for example, work to the kinder and prep play grounds, STEM robotics, 3D printer and most recently improvements to the library.
Of course none of this would be possible without all of our wonderful volunteers and school staff that help make our events a success. We would also like to say an extra special thank you to those staff leaving this year and our committee members of families who will be leaving the school, Jonathan Hart, Kirsty Crawford and Ben Cunningham. Your time and commitment to our group is very much appreciated.
We are looking forward to an even bigger year next year so if you would like to come along and see what it’s all about and how you can be involved we would love to see you at our next meeting.
For now, we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year!
