November 3rd
Here we are at week 4 already! Please remember that whilst all terms are busy ones, term 4 can be especially busy with lots happening so please ensure that you keep up with our newsletter information and class notices. You may have noticed that we are tending more towards emailing notices as our feedback shows that notices are reaching parents more effectively and timely.
Student Parliament Initiative
This week we have James (Kremart) starting on one of two areas to install murals. The Student Parliament have some funds that are required to be allocated to a project so throughout 2020/2021 we have worked with Student Parliament through some ideas that will benefit the school as a 'whole'. The consensus was that we needed some murals that would fit in with our environment and brighten up the school, and hopefully 'help children who might be feeling a bit sad feel a little happier'. The second mural will be installed on the blackboard on the outside wall of the library. Watch out on our Facebook page for the progress over the next few weeks.
Staffing Update
Grace Evorall is the successful applicant for the Acting Assistant Principal role for the remainder of the term. Alison Taylor will be Acting AST to fill Grace's vacated position. To avoid too much disruption, Alison will be in the role for 3 days per week and on her class for the other 2. Rachel Kerrison will be on Prep Taylor during Alison's AST days.
Pick up area
Please remember that the parking spaces from the two disability parking areas to the school entrance are also 'pick up or drop off' areas, along with the section from the entrance to the roundabout. This means that drivers are not to park and leave the car. Parking and leaving the car in this area is illegal and can result in fines if the police are in attendance.
Kind regards, Karen
Last Wednesday our Grade 5/6 students made their way to Riverside Pool for our annual 5-6 Swimming Carnival. The weather gods looked after us giving us a lovely, warm day for swimming. This was the last carnival for our Grade 6s as Norwood Primary School students.
Plenty of smiling but also nervous faces were seen in the grandstand before the start of the carnival. Students participated in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly events while some also took the opportunity to have some fun in the small pool.
Participation from those in attendance was strong and it was lovely to see so much determination and good spirited competition on display.
The final house point tallies were as follows:
Wattle: 118
Banksia: 105
Waratah: 93
This means that the House Competition for the year has been completed and won by Wattle. Well done to all Wattle House students!
Students who performed exceptionally well will be representing Norwood at the LSSSA Carnival on Friday, also at the Riverside Pool. Congratulations to the following students:
Grade 5 Girls: Sarah N, Lily D, Halle R, Charlotte P, Millie H, Annabel C
Grade 5 Boys: Charlie B, Daniel S, Kasper P, Sam G
Grade 6 Girls: Ruby S, Giaan P, Zoe R, Mackenzi S, Izzy S
