September 22nd
Here we are at the end of another term!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our families for your ongoing support of the school in general, but particularly of the work and dedication that our teachers give each and every day not just with teaching & learning, but also ensuring that children's overall needs are attended to when and where necessary. Please remember that if at any time you have concerns about your child at school that we welcome families to make a time to meet with teachers or with senior staff to work through your concerns with you.
We are aware that there has been quite a lot of viruses circulating over the past weeks, which is certainly reflected in our attendance records. We acknowledge how hard this is on the children and families, however, school is not the place for anyone when they are sick and we thank you for ensuring children are given the time at home to rest and recover, and to also limit the spread of sickness.
As I hope you are now aware, we have two end of term special events happening for our students:
- Thursday: Disco for all classes generously organised and run by our School Association- see details further on in this newsletter.
- Friday: Loud Shirt Day! Details below....please join us for this important charity event.
2022 Organisation
We are in the process of organising staff and classes for 2022. Thank you to the families who have let us know that your children will be moving on from NPS next year. If you haven't done so, and are moving on, please let us know, and if you are aware of anyone moving into the area or a 4 year old ready for 2022 kinder please encourage them to give us a call.
At the beginning of Term 4, I welcome families to send any information for class placement via the school email. Please be aware that requests for particular teachers will not be considered, rather this is required to be aligned to what might best suit the educational needs of your child. Families are also welcome to make a time to come and speak with me if that is a preferred option. All requests will need to be in by the end of week 4.
Kind regards, Karen
Congratulations to our August Aussie's of the Month!
Well done Harrison and Emma who were selected as August's ECE and Primary Aussie of the Month.
NORWOOD PRIMARY SCHOOL is supporting....
FRIDAY 24th SEPTEMBER 2021
(Kinder Leedham - Thursday 23rd September)
The SHEPHERD CENTRE has supported the Unwin family to help Eli (Prep Taylor) over past years, and they would love to take the opportunity to ‘give back’ by raising some money to support this worthy cause.
Please support this important work by putting on your loudest shirt and giving a gold coin donation!
Giving deaf children a voice!
Our classes throughout our school have worked incredibly hard to unpack our value of Aspiration and what it means for them. This has been an explicit focus for us during Term 3. We know that people with high aspirations tend to do better, and that young people’s aspirations have a significant influence on both their educational attainment and their future life outcomes.
By embedding this value in the culture of our school, we model the behaviours we encourage in our learners. Aspiration can relate to any area of life and can be linked to a sense of purpose or inner drive.
Having a value of aspiration can include:
- Expecting the best from ourselves and from others
- Striving for success
- Setting goals and planning to achieve them
- Building on our strengths and working on our weaknesses
- Continuing to lift and improve performance.
Aspiration helps us to move beyond our current circumstances and focus on where we’d like to be.
As part of our celebration of our Values, we will be awarding those students who have consistently displayed and modelled the Aspiration behaviours of our Expected Student Behaviour. Students who are recognised for displaying Aspiration, will be presented with an Aspiration badge, which they can wear every day. These badges will be presented to students in week 1, Term 4 in our whole school assembly. For parents/guardians of these students, please keep an eye out for an invitation to be a part of this first assembly to recognise those students who go above and beyond.

We would like to thank Angela Hawley who has been the School Banking Co-ordinator for the past three years and volunteers Kirsty Crawford, Bec Unwin, Yvonne Thow and Abbie Bent for giving up their time each Friday to support the program. We would also like to advise that as we move into this new model for banking we will no longer be issuing tokens or rewards for school banking, students will also be unable to claim these from the branch. If any students have tokens to redeem they must do so by this Friday 24th September.
