Mid-year Reporting
In response to the unusual school situation of 2020 that has included Learning at Home, there have been changes to the regular reporting processes.
The requirement to report with an A-E rating has been removed, and the timeline to communicate with parents/carers is extended until the end of July.
In line with guidelines from the Department of Education regarding mid-year communication, we will provide an insight into your child’s progress so far this year in the key learning areas of English and Mathematics.
The communication will indicate your child’s progress against the standard expected for their year level and shall include some future focus learning areas for both English & Mathematics. It will also include a focus on your child’s general wellbeing at school.
This will be done on a one page report and will be emailed individually to parents / carers in a separate email for each child (Prep - 6). Please let the office know if your email details have changed.
Kindergarten teachers will be making contact individually with parents/carers to communicate your child's progress so far and some future focus goals.
Should you have any queries about your child’s learning progress please do not hesitate to contact the school or your child’s teacher. Below is a SAMPLE of what the mid-year report (Prep -6) will look like.
Traffic arrangements
We are currently undertaking a review of traffic for pick up at the end of the school day. Whilst we will endeavour to work with the Launceston City Council to discuss any permanent changes to the traffic management, there are a few things that we are able to do from a school perspective.
- We are currently working with students in regards to how they wait at the Pick UP Zone, and from next Monday onwards, chilren being picked up in Norwood Avenue at the 5 minute zone will be expected to move straight to lining up along the inside of the fence and leave via the steps to get into their pick up car.
- In order for the 1st organisation to happen successfully, we ask that all people using the 5 minute zone keep moving up as cars leave. This will lessen the traffic waiting to move into the 5 minute zone.
- On most school days, there will be a staff member in this area to organise the students. They may also signal for the cars to move up as the cars leave.
Please ensure that your child/ren know if you are planning on using the pick up / drop off zone so that they know where to wait.
It is important that our school community understands that school staff are not able to directly manage traffic or set up any unauthorised materials that alter traffic use of the road. Hopefully we can make some plans with the City Council for some increased permanent traffic management to be put into place for the future.
REMEMBER Norwood Ave is a 40 School Zone for school drop off and pick up.
Thank you for your patience and understanding in this manner.

Early childhood classes will trial a Virtual Assembly later this week. All classes have a current focus on RESPECT and the many ways that it can be displayed and how it contributes to a happy, safe learning environment.
Well done to Rahni from 6 Richards for continuing on her family tradition of feeding the homeless. Here she is with some of the goods that she makes to contribute to our local community once a week.
A reminder to parents and carers if your child will be absent please notify the school by 9:30am. You can do this in person, email school at norwood.primary@education.tas.gov.au, (please do not email individual staff members), phone (63442533), text message (0407 665 749) and via the Schoolzine App. If student attendance remains unexplained after three days, parents will receive a follow up text message for them to please notify the school of these absences. Thank you!
