Update 23rd March - From Principal
Dear Families
I am writing to provide you with some clarification and updates in relation to our actions due to COVID-19. I feel quite privileged to be living in Tasmanian as the current statistics show that all current identified cases of COVID-19 in Tasmania are with individuals that have arrived from overseas or were on cruises. To date, there is no community related transmitted cases in Tasmania.
Given this, the health authority advice is that it is in the best interests of children that schools remain open at present.
Some of the measures we have put into place are…..
-
Children are required to wash their hands with soap & water in classrooms before eating, after going to the toilet, before and after PE and on return from recess and lunch breaks.
-
Regular & more thorough cleaning of hard surfaces, including door handles, computer keyboards etc., and of communal equipment.
-
Restricting the amount of adults coming into the school at any given time - please see attached letter.
-
The School Canteen will be providing lunch & recess order via the canteen app only. NO cash please. Recess & lunch over the counter sales will NOT be available.
- All families who have been interstate or have arrived back from cruises over the past week are following all necessary restictions as set out by the current state quarantine mandates.
As of Wednesday this week, the Department of Education acknowledges the right of Parents / Carers to keep their children at home if they choose to do so. There will be no unauthorised absence letters sent to any families who have notified the school that they have chosen to isolate their children from school.
We are working on how to provide some Home Learning ideas for students and how this might look. This is quite an undertaking as teachers are also being required to continue their current learning programs for the students still in attendance. In the interim, we have attached a list of generic websites that can be accessed if you have online access, and will be updating ideas regulary so please keep regular check for these. Resources can also be found by following the link below.
The lastest information in relation to COVID-19 and schools, including some information about online learning can be found at https://www.education.tas.gov.au/about-us/alerts/
If you have any further queries please email using the school address or phone the office. Please avoid emailing or messaging teachers directly.
Thank you to our school community for your support.
Take care and kind regards,
Karen
