March 11th
Firstly....a huge congratulations to our first camp group for their respectful, responsible and resilient conduct during their camp experience. Although challenged by the weather, they took this in their stride and a great time was had by all. Our second group arrived very organised and excited this morning....looks like sunscreen and hats for this one rather than rain jackets and umbrellas!
A special thank you to all staff and volunteers involved in organising and attending camps. A great deal of work is involved in organising this experience, with a lot being done outside of school hours.
School Uniform
After quite a long process, including a change in our uniform supplier, we have settled on the additions and adaptions of the current school uniform. This was approved at last months School Association meeting and new items should be available from term 3 this year.
What does this mean for families?
- You will not need to make any changes to your child's current uniform until they are ready for new items or you wish to purchase any new pieces.
The school colours will remain the same, however, the white polo top will be replaced with the school green and blue.
We are currently waiting on samples and will post photos as soon as these are available. Our current Uniform Policy will be adapted and endorsed by the School Association before term 3.

Friday 27th March 9:00am - 11:00am
Early childhood classes will be participating in their Tabloid Carnival on Friday 27th March. This will be held on the school grounds.
Children are to wear their PE uniform, bring their HATS, a large drink bottle and apply sunscreen before coming to school. This carnival involves a lot of fun activities and it would be great to see as many parents, carers, grandparents and friends supporting the students.
Last Wednesday 5-6PW, 6R and the 5’s from 4-5F travelled to Camp Banksia for their camp. We began at Glengarry Maze, splitting into 3 groups and enjoying a forest walk, thinking challenges and the maze. We then travelled via the Frankford Highway to Camp Banksia. In the afternoon we became acclimatised to the camp and visited the beach.
On the second day it rained all day and despite this, the students had a great day cooking pancakes, learning about the food web of Tasmanian animals and playing team building games. They also had time to practise their acts for the talent show and play board games. The talent show at night was a definite highlight of the day.
On the final day we played Mr Jones’ famous game 'Survivor' and then travelled to the Ashgrove Cheese Factory to learn about micro-organisms.
Overall the students were absolutely amazing, demonstrating the three school values throughout the three days and we had a fantastic time.

Great news for children coming to our kindergarten in 2021 and their families.
This year we will be providing all children with smaller, more intensive groups of pre-kinder in terms 1 and 2 to enable teachers to get to know the children more and respond to their individual needs. Each of these groups will run for approximately 6 weeks. Term 3 will have all our pre-kinder children divided into two larger groups with Mrs House or Mrs Williams. Term 4 will see the children allocated to one of three groups according to whom their teacher is likely to be in 2021.
Round 1 of the small pre-kinder groups started last week.
Round 2 will start several weeks into term 2. Letters will be sent out early in term 2 to parents inviting them into one of the round 2 groups.

3-4 Barker have been concentrating on finding the main idea within a text. We read about sunflowers and highlighted repeated words to help us identify the main idea and in turn help us make meaning of the text.
We determined that the main idea of this text is the usefulness of sunflowers. We then followed some written instructions to make sunflowers of our own.
We would really appreciate one more volunteer to help out at School Banking on Friday mornings. Banking starts at 9:00 am and usually only takes 30-45 minutes. Younger siblings are welcome!. If you would like to assist please let the office know or come along and see us ona Friday morning in the Library. Thank you!
This Saturday 14th March 10:00am - 2:00pm
