Positive Behaviour Support
A major school improvement focus for this year is to develop positive behaviour expectations within the 3Rs - Respect, Responsible, Resilience. This will include working as a staff and with students to determine indicators within each area that support student understanding of the actions and attitudes expected within each of the 3Rs. Once completed this will be made available to our school community.
These indicators will be published and taught within everyday learning and will guide decisions to encourage and reward expected behaviours.
We believe that celebrating student achievement is very important and as such plan to build on the ways we do this throughout the year. Some of you will be aware that the main contact given to the school from families of students receiving certificates at assembly will receive a text message prior to asssembly to alert the family that their child will be receiving a certificate at school. We are hoping that this may give you an opportunity to attend assembly to see your child receive the certificate. We also hope that you may keep this quiet so that each of the receiving students will be surprised.
Teachers now come to the front, announce the reward certificate recipient and the reason for receiving it. Students will then come to the front to receive it.
Student Illness
Unfortunately there appears to already be some viruses going about that a number of our students have contracted. Some of these come on suddenly and we have needed to make quite a few more calls than normal to have children collected from school. Please be aware that children with viruses, particulary those including gastro, should stay away from school until completely well as these are spread very easily.
Also, please remember to call the office, or respond to our text message, to let us know the reason for absence as each absence without reason is recorded as an unauthorised absence.

For the past 7 years Mr Singline has served Norwood Primary School with distinction as an Education Facility Attendant (groundsman). His work in maintaining the school grounds, working with landscapers, and visiting tradies has been excellent. His building skills have complemented and supported the school in many ways on many occasions. Just this past week Leigh has created a more secure storage facility for those students who ride scooters to school.
We wish Leigh all the best in his new position in the North-East of the State. Farewell and thank you!
