2020 Planning messages.....
We are now well into forward planning for 2020. In order for us to make the best decision possible, it is important to let us know if your child/ren will not be returning to NPS next year so please either call or email us if this is the case.
Also, Kindergaten enrolments for 2020 are being finalised. If you have a child, or know of a family within the Norwood area who has turned four this year, then please contact us about enrolment.
Educational based requests for 2020 classes close this Friday. Please remember that all requests are to be in writing, either in hard copy delivered to the office or via email.
Celebrations!
Last week three of our Grade 5 students and family members attended the Department of Education Student Achievement Awards, and were presented with an achievement certificate by Minister for Education & Training, Jeremy Rockliff.
This year the Department of Education moved from NAPLAN awards to Student awards that recognise achievement and the values of aspiration and growth.
- Aspiration and Achievement – a culture of high expectations and high achievement
- Growth – improving by always learning and finding better ways to do things
Eligible students will come from Years 3, 5, 7 and 9.
CONGRATULATIONS to .....
- Jack Miller - Aspiration & Achievement
- Levi Swift - Aspiration & Achievement
- Daniel Hilbert - Growth

The flavour of the past two weekends has been basketball. Norwood had seven teams, and over 50 students participating in the Primary Schools Basketball Tournament.
The community support and sense of belonging both on the court and in the stands was a delight to observe, with all participants to be congratulated on their attitude, resilience and improvement. The biggest excitement seemed to be reserved for firsts: the first shot, the first goal, the first drive to the basket and even the first foul! Keep working on the 3-pointers folks!
Special thanks to the coaches for pre-training and supporting the players over the weekend: namely Caleb Nason, Corinne Leale, Jordan Stubbs, Ebony Reed, Madeleine Etchells, Phil Payne, Scott Driessen and Jeremy Youd.
Overall Norwood Primary had more wins than losses with the 3-4 Boys (Div 2), 5-6 boys (Div 2) and the 5-6 girls (Reed) being extremely competitive.
Shining stars were Ryken L, Tom M, Casey N, Caitlin R, Amy B, Maddi Y, and Oscar L with development being evident across all players and all teams.
Well done everybody.

On Thursday October 31st at 9:30am weather permitting we will be walking to draw a house around the corner from school.
On Tuesday December 3rd we are walking to Regis Tasmania for a Christmas visit. We will be leaving at 10am and returning at 11:30am.
Both of our walks are weather dependent. We would love some parents to walk with us. You will need a Working with Vulnerable People card for any of these experiences. Look forward to hearing from some available and interested parents.
Thank you, Lynette House
Volunteers are required to keep the School Banking program running at Norwood Primary School in 2020. We currently meet weekly in the School Library from 9:00am Friday mornings, and it usually takes less than 1 hour to process the deposits. If you would like to help out, even if it is not every week, please drop by the Library any Friday and have a chat with one of us. You will need to have a current WWVP card.
