MYTERN
Last Tuesday evening we were fortunate to have Dr Jane Foster run a MYTERN information session for interested parents and carers. On Tuesday and Wednesday next week Jane will be working with our children, teaching them about the MYTERN language. MYTERN is a language around emotional regulation and gives children a way to express how they are feeling and how to be in control on both ‘red and green roads’.
Mothers’ Day Stall
A special thank you this week to Savanna Moore for her co-ordination of our Mothers’ Day stall. Thank you also to her great team of volunteers, the children had a wonderful time selecting items and I hope everyone was able to share some family time during the weekend.
NAPLAN
Online NAPLAN testing for grades 3 and 5 began this week. Thank you to Queechy High School for the loan of 15 laptops and a charging trolley which has enabled relatively smooth running of the tests so far. Staff are working very hard to ensure children are supported during this time, please let your child’s teacher know if you have any questions or concerns.

We are excited to be off on our first excursion to the PCYC and City Park. The purposes of our trip are to be involved in gross motor challenges and to observe seasonal changes in our environment. We will be leaving school at approx. 9:20am this Friday May 17th and will be returning in the afternoon. Students will need to wear their normal sports uniform, including sandshoes. Everyone will require a PACKED lunch and plenty to drink (NO lunch orders available this Friday). Warm coats and beanies are essential. Parent help is invited. Please see me as soon as possible if you are interested – you must have a current Working with Vulnerable People card.
Many thanks, Melinda Williams
2-3 Glen Excursion
On Thursday May 30th, 2-3G will be travelling by bus to the Gorge to continue our First Tasmanians inquiry. We will be led by Tasmanian Aboriginal Historian Geoff McLean and will be learning about the Gorge and its connections with, and significance to, First Tasmanians. We will be looking at features of the Gorge from a First Tasmanians perspective, why it was important to them and learning about local resources used.
The bus will leave school promptly at 9:15am in the morning and return to school by 2:30pm. All students need to wear their PE uniform and bring a school jumper and a windproof jacket as the Gorge area may be cold. Students will also need a packed recess, lunch and a large drink. NO RECESS OR LUNCH ORDERS on this day.
If any parents are able to assist with this excursion could they please speak to Ms Glen. It is a requirement for accompanying parents to have a current Working With Vulnerable People card.

Last term parents were invited to participate in a survey regarding our school uniform, we would like to thank all families that completed the survey. Last night at our School Association meeting the results were analysed and it was voted on to add two new optional items to the uniform, these being a Navy Polar Fleece Jacket full zip - $36.95 and a Navy Puffer Jacket - $45. Both of these items will be available at Targetts Schoolwear. In the next few days we will be sending home an order form for these items which should be returned to Targetts, they anticipate items being ready within three weeks of receiving orders.

Mothers Day Stall
The Mothers Day Stall is always a popular day on our school's calendar and it has again this year seen many well behaved children with beautiful manners pass through, excited that they've had the opportunity to select a gift themselves and leaving with happy faces.
This stall would not be possible without the help of many people. Firstly, I'd like to thank the wonderful group of mum's who gave up so much of their time to help prepare the stall and run it on the day. I am extremely thankful to this group of ladies for their support and time given. I'd also like to send out a very big thank you to the many families within our school community who very generously donated some lovely items to be used on the stall. Your contributions were greatly appreciated. One last thank you goes to the fantastic ladies in our school office for all of their help and support. I hope that all of the families in our school had a lovely Mother Day.
