October 23rd
Dear NPS Families
Firstly, my apologies for missing another assembly. I seem to be picking up some of the many viruses that are continually circulating.
I can now confirm the class structure for 2026. As previously mentioned, we will be moving to straight year group classes next year, except for one 4-5 class. Whilst we would have preferred not to have any composite classes, we cannot make this work with the current numbers across each year group. Our 2026 staff are almost all confirmed, with just a couple of classes waiting on confirmation. I will announce this once all staff are finalised.
Our class structure with be...
| Kinder A | Grade 1 A | Grade 3 A | Grade 5 A |
| Kinder B | Grade 1 B | Grade 3 B | Grade 5 B |
| Prep A | Grade 2 A | Grade 4 A | Grade 6 A |
| Prep B | Grade 2 B | Grade 4 B | Grade 6 B |
| Grade 4-5 A |
As noted in our last newsletter, staff work collaboratively to make decisions regarding student class placement by bringing together all information available to create the best possible learning environments for all students with a balance of academic, social and emotional needs and application to learning. Whilst we understand that having supportive relationships with peers within each class is very important for students, having one's best friend is not always beneficial or possible. Teachers are well-equipped to make these decisions from observations made throughout the year.
We do, however, appreciate that parents/carers may have valuable information that they wish to share prior to class placements being organised. Tomorrow (Friday) a link to a short survey will be emailed to all families to provide any additional information that will support the process of placing students into their 2026 class.
In the past we have asked for emails or letters for this process, however, using the link will ensure that all information is in the same place and lessen the possiblity of information being missed. If you have anything sensitive that you would like to discuss, please call the office and make a time to speak with myself or Jess Bennett. Scott Driessen will be communicating with families of students with high additional educational adjustments.
Kind regards,
Karen Monaghan | Principal

It was fantastic to acknowledge students across the school the last week of Term 3 and yesterday, who were deserving recipients of Values Certificates. These certificates highlighted those students who have displayed exceptional behaviour, an outstanding approach to learning and academic excellence. Congratulations to all recipients.

Whilst looking at Time last term we investigated seasons.
We created these amazing collages of Winter and finished the unit off with analogue caterpillar clocks.

This term, our literacy work is looking at how we can correspond with others. We've started with postcard writing. It's a short mode of writing and includes something we've been doing in a different environment. You have to include the person's name and address that you are posting the card to. It must also have a stamp - this is $1.70

Hello everyone,
My name is Ash, and I’m your new School Health Nurse covering Bri whilst she is on maternity leave. I’m here to support the health and well-being of all students, both physically and mentally. Whether you have questions about nutrition, sleep, bedwetting, mental health, or any other aspect of your child’s health, I’m here to help with advice, support, and referrals if needed.
I also offer vision and hearing checks for all students upon request.
You’ll find me at the school on Monday’s, or you can leave a message at the school office, and I’ll get in touch with you.
We can’t wait to see your children at school this Term, every day. Going to school every day gives your child every chance to learn, grow and connect with their friends and teachers. It gives us a chance to engage with your child. We all play a part in helping our kids get to school every day. It’s where bright futures start and where they’ll benefit the most. With an education and support for wellbeing, anything is possible for our children and young people. Talk to us at school or visit Anything can happen - Department for Education, Children and Young People.
As part of our commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for all members of our school community, we kindly ask for your continued care and consideration during pick-up times.
Children can often be energetic and excitable at the end of the day, which may lead to unintentional behaviours such as rushing or swinging their belongings. While this can sometimes result in accidental bumps or knocks, it’s important to remember that these actions are rarely deliberate and are often a reflection of their age and developmental stage.
If you feel a gentle reminder is needed, we ask that you raise this with staff in the first instance.
Thank you for your understanding and for helping us maintain a safe and respectful atmosphere for everyone at Norwood Primary.
