June 4th
Dear NPS Families
It certainly has been a busy couple of weeks with the Primary Swimming and Water Safety Program happening in amongst all usual busyness of school. The students have coped very well with the changes to normal routines and have certainly shown courage and flexibility during this time.
CONGRATULATIONS
A huge congratulations goes to our Readers' Cup team for their dedication to all the work required leading up to the Readers' Cup event. Congratulations and thank you also to Mrs Kate Scolyer for her mentoring and support of the group. Kate has prepared the words below....
On Thursday 29th May, five students represented NPS at the inter-school competition for Readers’ Cup. This team of dedicated readers had spent the seven weeks prior becoming experts in five books and preparing a creative presentation in response to one of the texts.
On the evening of the inter-school competition, the team were outstanding representatives of our school, demonstrating collaboration and persistence. Out of the eighteen schools participating, the team placed first in the Creative Presentation section and first for the Extra Challenge. Combining these scores with their results from the quiz, the team placed fifth overall – an outstanding achievement! I would like to congratulate Eden B, Freya H, Charlie S, Laketa M and Maisy S on their efforts and success.
LSSSA
Tomorrow morning 57 of our years 3-6 students will head off with Miss Jess Bennett, Mrs Lisa McArthur and Mr Ben Humphrey to participate in the LSSSA Primary School Cross Country at Windsor Park.
We wish all our students participating the very best for the day and know that each one of them will all give their best to the event.
Winterfest
Next Friday, 13th June, our very dedicated School Association will host our bi-annual Winterfest Community event. On behalf of the school community, I would like to thank the Winterfest Committee for their dedication to getting this event organised...a great deal of work goes in behind the scenes for this to happen.
Looking forward to seeing our Norwood Community join us on the evening. Friends and extended family members are welcome. Please note that children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Kind regards,
Karen Monaghan | Principal

1/2A
In 1/2A, we have been learning to write an information report. We had to read a non-fiction text, look for key information and write the information onto the recording sheet. It was fun finding facts about our chosen animal.

5/6A
In 5/6A we have been looking at advertisements with the aim of identifying target audiences and persuasive techniques.

Tuesday 27th May - Students from Grade 5/6 took part in the Futsal Tournament held at Elphin Sports Centre. All of our teams participated with enthusiasm and represented our school with tremendous amounts of spirit and fair play. Our teams all felt success on the day with lots of wins, draws and a few loses along the way. Sophie C kicked the winning goal right on the buzzer and her team mates all celebrated with lots of squeals of excitement and big smiles. Lots of fast feet, speed and team work were evident across the day and all the students enjoyed the experience. Thank you to the parents who came along to watch and to the parents who took on coaching roles for the day. You all did an amazing job with our Norwood Teams.

Wednesday 28th May - Student from Grade 3/4 boys and girls and Grade 5 girls had their futsal tournament. It was a fantastic day with all teams playing with great enthusiasm and team spirit. Many teams had success on the field, and were appreciative of the time and effort their volunteer coaches put into the day. Well done to the Grade 3 girls who managed to win their division!
