March 13th
Dear Families,
On Friday this week, each student P-6 will receive a hard copy of their Primary Progression Report. An email will be sent prior to this with information about this report and how the assessment of each indicator is reached by teachers.
Email is currently our preferred method contact for important messages, letters etc. If you have changed your email from the one currently provided to the school it is essential that you update this by emailing or phoning the school office.
Carpark
Please be aware that the staff carpark should not be accessed for morning drop off unless you have disability parking permission or have an agreement with the school. Our carpark only just fits in all our staff and some staff have starting times after 8:30 and are finding it very hard to find a space when families are parking inside the grounds of a morning.
Excess traffic moving in and out of the carpark at busy drop off and pick ups times is extremely hazardess for our students so please do not use this carpark without explicit permission between 8:00 - 9:15am and 2:30 - 3:15pm.
Recent Letter to Families
Yesterday a letter was emailed home to all Norwood PS families outlining expectations for appropriate, respectful behaviour aligned to the values of inclusiviness. If you have not seen this, please check this letter as it contains important information that you will be able to discuss with your child/ren. A link to the letter is provided below in case you have difficulty accessing it from email.

In Kinder A we have been ‘Researchers’. We are investigating colour in many ways. We are finding it in our school environment, observing what happens when colours mix and experimenting with light and prisms.
After noticing a rainbow on our ceiling, we began inquiring into how it got into our room when there was no rain. Kinder A families are encouraged to pop in to look at our ‘Inquiry Big Book’ to see what we found out. I’m sure your little ones would love to show you and share their thinking.
3/4 B have created artworks for Purple Poppy Day to commemorate the animals who have served (and still do serve) in war and conflict.
Norwood Primary 3-6 Athletics Carnival
Date: Monday, 18th March
Time: 9:30am-2:45pm
Venue: Northern Athletics Centre (St Leonards)
The Primary Athletics Carnival will be held on Monday 18th March at the Northern Athletic Centre (rain day 21st March). This is our first sporting carnival of the year and the first opportunity to display house spirit, determination and resilience in a sporting context. Students are preparing in PE lessons for this carnival.
To ensure a smooth start to the day, students will need to present at school by 8:55am, to allow prompt departure of buses. We are aiming to start the carnival by 9:40am. All students need to ensure they are wearing their sports uniform, hats, have plenty of food, bring a large drink bottle and sunscreen. All students will be under the shade of gazebos when not participating in events. Students are also encouraged to support their house by wearing ribbons, tops, zinc cream etc. of their house colours.
Wattle: Blue Waratah: Red Banksia: Green
Students with asthma are reminded to bring their puffers for the day.
Students should not make lunch orders from the canteen on this day, as we will not be at school during lunch. The canteen at the venue will also not be available.
All students are expected to attend and participate in multiple events. Spectators are welcome to attend but will be asked to stay away from students as much as possible and will have a designated viewing area. Please do not attend if you are feeling unwell.
Students who are away for any reason may still be selected to represent NPS in the LSSSA Athletics Carnival, based on times/distances recorded at school. This will be held on Wednesday 27th March also at the Northern Athletics Centre (St Leonards). It is important that students who are unwell stay home.
