Dear NPS Families
Welcome to week 6! This Term is certainly racing by quickly with Summer just around the corner. Let’s hope we see the weather continue to improve as the days get longer.
The past 2 weeks in particular have seen multiple opportunities for our student to be involved in different experiences. Some of these experiences will continue for the rest of this week.
They include:
- Schools Triathlon on this Friday
- Dance Fever
- Year 2 Swimming Preparation Program
- Year 6 Orientation Day
- Choir Performance at Woolworths Opening
- Esk Band Performance
- Basketball Tournament
2024 Senior School Leaders
It is a privilege to announce that the following students have been selected as our Senior School Leaders for 2024. These students went through a 3 stage process including a presentation to their peers in Years 3-6, a student and staff vote and an interview process. We are looking forward to working alongside these students in 2024.
Congratulations - Indiana U, Tilly V, Zach S and Olivia S
There are multiple opportunities for our Year 6 students in 2024 to display leadership skills. These include, House Captains (presentations given today to Years 3 – 6), Literacy Leaders and Student Parliament.
2024 Class Structure
Our class structure for 2024 has been finalised and can be shared with the school community. The structure allows for streamlined curriculum delivery and is as follows:
Kinder | x 2 |
Prep | x 2 |
Year 1/2 | x 5 |
Year 3/4 | x 5 |
Year 5/6 | x 5 |
We are currently finalising staffing for the year and should be in a position to share this within the coming weeks. Our staff have worked hard in a collaborative fashion to develop our classes and their input has been invaluable in the process.
Term 4 Open Classrooms
It would be fantastic to see as many families as possible to our Open Classrooms tomorrow afternoon. As communicated previously the classrooms are open between 2.30pm (2:45pm Kinder) - 3.30pm and 4.00pm – 5.00pm. Come along and share in the learning journey of your children.
Kind regards,
Luke Padgett| Acting Principal

As per the school and Department for Education, Children and Young People's Sun Protection Polices all students must wear a rash vest or t-shirt or other appropriate clothing when swimming. Students who are not wearing appropriate cover will have to remain in the shade and will not be able to swim. When your child's class is participating in these exciting events, please apply sunscreen before sending them to school. The school will have sunscreen available so that students can reapply, however if your child has sensitive skin, please pack their own.

Throughout 2023 the Esk Band Program has had a wonderful year working with students as they further develop their instrumental and ensemble skills. The focused technique tutorials and band rehearsals have scaffolded an environment where students have been able to extend their musical experience. We are having a celebration performance at the band rotunda in Launceston’s City Park. As we are using the park you may like to bring a chair or rug for your own comfort.
Date: Thursday 30th November
Time: Depart school at 11:15am and returning by 2:00pm
Playing: Approx 1:00pm.
The purpose of a Registration to Work with Vulnerable People is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in our schools and other premises. All employees, volunteers, contractors, external providers, or persons engaged in or associated with a child regulated activity, must maintain a current Tasmanian RWVP. This policy places children at the centre of the requirements under the policy and compliance with the Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013.
- All visitors & volunteers must sign into the Kiosk at the front office
- WWVP cards must be shown to the front office staff
Anyone who doesn’t have their WWVP card with them will be unable to volunteer.
Value Certificate Recipients
It was fantastic to acknowledge students across the school this week, who were deserving recipients of Values Certificates. These certificates highlighted those students who have displayed exceptional behaviour, an outstanding approach to learning and academic excellence. Congratulations to all recipients.

Congratulations to all 6 of our teams who competed in the Grade 3/4 Basketball Tournament on the 10th/11th November. Participating students had a variety of prior experience in basketball but all gave their best efforts over a busy weekend. The encouragement and team work shown by all was very impressive.
Congratulations goes to both our girls teams who went through the tournament undefeated, while our Grade 3/4 Boys Div 1 team took home the title in a nail biter – beating Trevallyn by one point.
Big thank you to all coaches, managers and families who supported our young athletes.
On 28th/29th October we had 4 Grade 5/6 teams competing in the Regional Primary Schools Basketball Tournament. It was great to see so many of our students trying something different, encouraging each other and showing excellent sportsmanship. All of our teams were successful on the court as well as in the way they played with each other on the court. A huge thankyou to Denita Garwood for her organisation and all of our coaches/managers for their support of our young athletes.
Grade 5/6 Boys Div 1 team finished in 5th place with 2 wins & 2 losses
Grade 5/6 Boys Div 3 team won all 4 of their games
Grade 5 Girls Div 3 won 3 out of their 4 games
Grade 6 Girls Div 2 won their Grand Final to take out the championship.
