Dear Families
This week all families should have received an email in regards to our next Open Afternoon. This will take place on Thursday 23rd November with sessions at 2:30pm (Kinder 2:45) -3:30pm & 4:00pm-5:00pm. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase some of their learning achievements. We had a wonderful turn up to this last term and look forward to seeing everyone who can make it again this term.
We have a number of events this term which are shown in the upcoming events section below. Ensuring that you have the Schoolzine App installed will allow you to have continuous access to the school calendar as updates are entered as events etc. are organised...a calendar is also available on our school website. Extra details of events will be sent via email to the applicable class groups so please ensure that the school always has your current and most used email address.
2024 Educational Requests
Thank you to those families who have contacted the school with information/requests for 2024 classes. Planning for 2024 classes will be commencing this week, if your child will not be returning to Norwood Primary School next year please advise via email norwood.primary@decyp.tas.gov.au ASAP.
Congratulations to our 5-6 Basketball teams on their particpation and achievement in the Schools Basketball Tournament. Best wishes also to our 3-4 teams this weekend. Unfortunatley, this has clashed with some personal events for me so I haven't / won't be able to attend. I will, however, certainly be there in spirit and will be keeping up with the facebook posts.
Kind regards,
Karen Monaghan| Principal

Wednesday 22nd November
Transitioning from primary to high school is a time full of fun, excitement and new experiences, but it can also be challenging or worrying for many students and their families. Norwood Primary School are fortunate to be able to collaborate with local high schools in order to make this process a smooth one. Coming up on Wednesday the 22nd of November is an all-day Orientation Day being held at all Government schools. This day is structured to follow a normal high school timetable, enabling students to have an experience of what this will be like in 2024. Information for this day has already been sent home.
Our local schools are aiming to assist students and their families by making sure every child is prepared and feels supported in their choice for high school learning in 2024. Over the coming weeks before Orientation Day, identified students will be taking part in some extra transition activities. The purpose of these experiences is to expose students to high school life and the opportunity to visit the campus and be introduced to both staff and students at the school. The goal of a successful transition program is to increase student's connectedness to their Year 7 high school, whilst fostering engagement through introductory experiences.
If you have any questions or concerns with transition, please contact the NPS office.
Our Kinder Parent Information Evening is on Tuesday 14th November 7pm to 8pm in the Kinder building.
This is an opportunity to meet your child's teacher and find out helpful information to support your child's transition into Kinder 2024.
It is highly recommended for children to stay at home to enable parents to focus and ask questions without distraction.
Dance Fever is on again in 2023 with participants working hard on their choreography.
