Dear Families
It's wonderful to see almost all of our students now wearing their hats during all outside activities. If your child does not have a wide brim hat, they can be purchased from Midford Schoolwear or the School Office for $12:00. We do our best to find hats for students who have forgotten theirs, but these go quickly and also need to be washed between lending so they are not always available. In line with our sun safe policy any children without a hat will need to be confined to shade areas for outside play.
Please remember to add your child's name to their hat.
Surveys
A huge thank you to all the families that have completed the survey about our recent Open Afternoon. If you haven't completed this as yet, we would very much love to gain your feedback. The link to the survey was emailed to families last week.
School Satisfaction Survey
Over the next week the annual School Satisfaction survey will be emailed to families. The data from this survey is used to look for patterns of both what is going well, and things that we need to work on. This is a bit longer than the one above, but will be very valuable for our work going forward. Your input with this is greatly valued.
Staff Carpark
The capacity of our staff carpark is very limited and as such there are times when staff need to park on the street. Not all staff are scheduled for a 8:30am start and therefore we have NPS staff and other DECYP staff that access the carpark throughout the day. We therefore ask that all visitors park only in the visitor parking spots. The disabled parking is strictly for those who need to use this.
The morning drop off is extremely busy with lots of students walking into the school. It is therefore, important that cars are extremely careful if entering the carpark to drop students at school. Please attempt to park outside of the school carpark where possible. If you do not walk in with your children, please remember to drop them at the drop off zone rather than entering the carpark.
Kind regards,
Karen Monaghan | Principal

Kinder Fankhauser & Kinder Williams Excursion
Where: Hagley Farm Primary School
When: Thursday 28th September
Time: Depart School at 9:00am - Return by 2:45pm
Over the past few weeks we have continued to focus on ways we can be respectful friends and practiced giving compliments to each other. We have talked about what we can do if things happen with our friends that make us feel sad. We shared some great books including ‘Don’t Hug Doug’ and ‘The Huey’s in it Wasn’t Me’. This week we will begin to focus on personal safety and choices and the feelings our bodies have when we feel unsafe.
Value Certificate Recipients
It was fantastic to acknowledge students across the school the last week of August, who were deserving recipients of Values Certificates. These certificates highlighted those students who have displayed exceptional behaviour, an outstanding approach to learning and academic excellence. Congratulations to all recipients.

Courage
Our classes throughout our school are working incredibly hard to unpack our value of Courage and what it means for them. This will continue to be an explicit focus for us during Term 3.
Why Courage?
Courage is not a common value for schools and can mean many different things to different people. We show courage at Norwood Primary School by:
- accepting challenges and embracing opportunities
- Taking responsibility for our own learning and behaviour
- Being brave and not giving up
- Asking for help when we need it
- having difficult conversations (including when people’s behaviour does not reflect with our values)
- Including others
Courage is not necessarily loud, but is sometimes quiet and thoughtful and can relate to any area of life. By embedding this value in the culture of our school, we model the behaviours we encourage in our learners.
As part of our celebration of our Values, we will be awarding those students who have consistently displayed and modelled the Courage behaviours of our Expected Student Behaviour. Students who are recognised for displaying Courage, will be presented with a Courage badge, which they can wear every day. These badges will be presented to students in a whole school assembly later this Term. For parents/guardians of these students, please keep an eye out for an invitation to be a part of this assembly to recognise those students who go above and beyond.
