The P.O.P Challenge
Hello, my name is Allie Mountney and as part of my ExCEL challenge 'War On Waste', I have come up with an idea called The P.O.P Challenge.
The P.O.P Challenge is really quite easy to do but it can have a great impact on the world. So now you're probably wondering "What does P.O.P stand for?" Well it stands for Piece of Plastic, and this is where it comes together.
All you need to do is swap a single use plastic such as a snap lock bag or something wrapped in plastic in your lunch box and change it to something reusable, like paper bags or containers for as long as you can, we're aiming for a year!
There is approximately 500 students at Norwood which means if everyone at NPS did this, in just one day we could reduce the single use plastics by 500 pieces of plastic that would otherwise end up in landfill or even worse our oceans.
Here are some calculations.
1 day = 500+ pieces of plastic
1 school week (5 days) = 2,500+ pieces of plastic
1 school term (10 weeks) = 25,000+ pieces of plastic
1 school year (40 weeks) = 100,000+ pieces of plastic
Thank you for reading, and I hope you participate.

Now let's get P.O.P-ing!
