Kinder Williams
As the weather warmed up for Spring, the Kinders noticed a lot of bird activity in and around our classroom. We wondered whether the birds might be nesting in our roof. The children were asked how we might find out for sure. After lots of discussion it was decided that we would ask our groundsman to bring down his big ladder to have a look. We wrote him a letter and he visited us the next day.
This stimulated lots of discussion about why and how birds make nests. We also wanted to know if people can make nests.
The following day the Kinders went to the forest area in search of suitable materials to build their own nest.
We then experimented with leaves and mud to create a nest.
