From the Health & Wellbeing Classroom
Mindfulness is an important part of our Health and Wellbeing lessons that we have begun to introduce at the beginning of our lessons. Mindfulness helps children develop greater emotional awareness, focus, and resilience. By learning to pay attention to the present moment with kindness and curiosity, the children are able to better manage stress, reduce their anxiety, and improve their ability to concentrate in class. It also supports positive relationships by encouraging empathy and self-regulation. Practicing mindfulness regularly can lay the foundation for lifelong mental and emotional well-being. Most of the children look forward to this time to be still, present and quiet. Some find it more difficult, particularly the staying still part! We will continue to work on this as a focus, so we can reflect on how our body and mind feels after our mindfulness session, and hopefully make this a goal to achieve as the children progress through life.
