From the Principal
A very warm welcome back to all families, and a special welcome to new families starting with us. It’s hard to believe that we are now more than half way through 2019!
I am extremely pleased to be back after a term away studying in the USA with a Tasmanian Department of Education Hardie Fellowship. I gained a great deal of valuable learning during this time and now look forward to this learning helping guide our work here at Norwood Primary School.
It was wonderful to see students returning to school well-prepared for a new term of learning. As always we expect that there will be illness and important appointments that may keep children away from school, however, it is vital that the school is contacted to explain the absence. Our average daily attendance to date for 2019 is 93%. Hopefully as the winter illnesses disappear we will see this average rise!!
With winter well and truly showing us its strength, it is important that students remember to wear the appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather. A coat is also a good idea as we go out for recess and lunch each day unless it’s raining, as it is important to get as much fresh air and light as we can during the limited day light hours of winter.
Please also remember that our official opening time for students is 8:30am and students arriving early will need to wait outdoors until this time unless registered for before schoolcare.
Please note that we are not able to add any more students to the before school care list due to regulations.
On Monday staff kicked off the term with a day of Reading Professional Learning and Moderation with our Queechy Alliance colleagues. It was wonderful to work with almost 200 educators all dedicated to further extending their learning to best serve the learning of our students.
We look forward to working with all our students and families for another great term of learning. Please contact us if you need to discuss any concerns or provide us with any feedback.
