From the Principal
Dear NPS Families
It was an honour yesterday to have the Australian of the Month team visit, to join our Assembly and award this months 'Aussie of the Month' student recipients, Maisy S & Brady W.
Keren Franks the 2025 Tasmanian Local Hero, Founder of Young Leaders of Tasmania and Sam Elsom the 2025 Tasmanian Australian of the Year, Founder of Sea Forest shared some of their background story that led to them being acknowledged for their work with the award.
Some of our classes had well thought out and prepared questions to ask either Sam or Keren. I would like to acknowledge the classes who participated in developing the questions, and the students who stood up to ask them, for the deep thinking and preparation that went into each of these.
Did you know that seaweed is used in many everyday items that we use, including many toothpastes!!
Our Student Parliament, Senior Student Leaders and all Aussie of the Month recipients for 2025 met with the team after assembly for a Q & A whilst enjoying morning tea. Once again, our students were very well prepared and ‘shone’ with their interactions.
We appreciate the team visiting Norwood PS within their busy schedule. They each expressed how much they enjoyed the visit and the interactions with our students. Also, being very complimentary about how lovely our school is!
Congratulations to our Senior Student Leaders for their excellent preparation and hosting of the event.

- Drone footage: students will be co-ordinated to assemble into the numeral 60 on the oval which will be filmed using our drone.
- Foyer Display: A 60 Years of NPS will be designed for the foyer.
- Tea Towel: Our School Association is organising a tea towel with all our students self-drawn images printed on it for families to purchase if they wish to do so.
Finally, if any families or friends have any items or photos of the past 60 years involving NPS, we would love to borrow them or copy the photos. Please bring these to the school office.
