1/2C have been fortunate to have Miss Pilsbury, from UTAS, working in our class over the past 4 weeks. Throughout her time with us, she has been teaching us all about maps, types and features of maps, how to follow them and directions. At the end of the unit, we created our own class city, consisting of all the buildings we thought were important. We think it looks amazing! Finally, we headed outside for a treasure hunt, following the directions on a map to find the hidden treasure. Thank you, Miss Pilsbury for all of your hard work, we will miss you!

During Term 2, in 5/6 Spencer we have been focussing on persuasive advertisements. We have analysed a range of advertisements to determine the purpose and target audience, and to identify the persuasive devices that the author has used. We then each created our own advertisements using Canva, Word and/or Powerpoint to persuade others to purchase our chosen item.

We have really enjoyed this unit, exploring the different persuasive devices used by authors and experimenting to determine how these devices let us persuade when creating our own work.
