From the Principal
Dear NPS Families
Thank you for your understanding and thoughts during my recent bereavement leave. Losing a love one is always difficult and having the time to come to terms with the loss and to attend to the necessary organisation is important. I am extremely grateful to be part of a school community who are so understanding and supportive.
This morning whilst our students have a day away for Launceston Cup, staff will be involved in some ongoing learning within the area of Number and Reading from 8:30-11:00am.
SEESAW
There have been a few technical issues with the roll-out of the the DECYP SeeSaw platform which has caused a delay in our intended use of this. Please hold tight and we will get this underway as a consistent communication platform across NPS as soon as possible.
Teaching and Learning
This year we will be continuing to work within the DECYP Reading Initiative guidelines aimed at improving students' literacy outcomes across the state. During the year we will be sharing aspects of our newly implemented approaches, along with tips for supporting reading development at home.
Our data is also showing, that whilst we had some quality increased outcomes in Mathematics last year, there is much more to be done, especially in the Number Strand. We will continue our Professional Learning for teachers with the "Big Ideas in Number" which is a highly evidenced-based methodology of teaching number skills. We look for to sharing some of this work throughout the year.
Extension and Flexible Programs, along with Intervention where required, will continue to be part of the way we support students to cater for some of their interests and their individual learning needs.
Along with all of the above we will continue to promote the development of inquiry-based learning to encourage skills that will be very necessary for our young students into the future. A big part of this is children developing the six assets that are essential for children to be inquiry learners.
We look forward to sharing our learning journey with you across the 2025 school year.
Thank you to our School Association team and all our families who contribute to the work of the team to raise funds to support NPS. Please see the School Association section below for current information along with a picture of the recent addition to our school funded by School Association.
