A Celebration of our Values – Aspiration
Classes throughout our school are working incredibly hard to unpack our value of Aspiration and what it means for them. This has been an explicit focus for us during Term 2. We know that people with high aspirations tend to do better, and that young people’s aspirations have a significant influence on both their educational attainment and their future life outcomes.
By embedding this value in the culture of our school, we model the behaviours we encourage in our learners. Aspiration can relate to any area of life and can be linked to a sense of purpose or inner drive.
Having a value of aspiration can include:
- Expecting the best from ourselves and from others
- Striving for success
- Setting goals and planning to achieve them
- Building on our strengths and working on our weaknesses
- Continuing to lift and improve performance.
Aspiration helps us to move beyond our current circumstances and focus on where we’d like to be.
As part of our celebration of our Values, we will be awarding those students who have consistently displayed and modelled the Aspiration behaviours of our Expected Student Behaviour. Students who are recognised for displaying Aspiration, will be presented with an Aspiration badge, which they can wear every day. These badges will be presented to students at a whole school assembly later this term. For parents/guardians of these students, please keep an eye out for an invitation to be a part of this assembly to recognise those students who go above and beyond.
