Dear Families
I am so very pleased to now be able to return to work. It has been quite a long haul, however, I am now well recovered and ready for the remainder of the year. One young child told me that he thought I was away because I had a baby...that made me smile!
Thank you to the school community for the warm welcomes and to the students who have been so welcoming and delightful.
A big thank you to Luke and the Leadership team, and also to Liz O'Donohue for jumping into the NPS Principal role so positively and productively. It has been wonderful to see all the achievements that have taken place during my absence.
Once again, a huge thank you to our School Association and all the volunteers for the Mother's Day Stall. A great deal of work goes into this, leading up to the stall itself and the success of this annual event is certainly evident in the excitement of our students as they are carefully choosing gifts. I hope everyone who celebrates Mother's Day had a wonderful day on Sunday, and in particular enjoyed their carefully chosen gift from the stall.
Now that the cold weather is certainly upon us, many children are wearing beanies. As part of our NPS Uniform Policy we ask that students either wear the NPS Beanie, available from Midfords in Charles street, or wear a plain navy blue or plain green one. These also need to be removed during indoor time. There is little benefit to wearing a hat for warmth if it is worn inside where heating is going.
Please see below for our School Dress Code and Uniform Policy.
I am looking forward to working together throughout the remainder of the year and into the future. Please remember that we are here to support your children to have the most successful education possible so please take up opportunities to join us for events and voluteer opportunities and to talk with us if you have any concerns or queries...we can only work to solve a problem when we are aware that it exists.
YEP!
The Commissioner for Children and Young People is excited to announce that our YEP! program is officially launching on 9 May 2023. Your Engagement Place (YEP!) is a place where children and young people under the age of 18 can find ways to engage with CCYP and other organisations around Tasmania to have a voice on things that matter to them. Any child and young person aged under 18 who registers before 9 June enters the membership draw for a chance to win an iPad. Children and young people can register here.
You can check out our YEP! hub now by visiting our new CCYP website. If you are an adult and would like to keep up to date with current engagement opportunities available to children and young people in Tasmania, fill out our adult subscription form.
Should you have any questions at all about the new program or wish to promote an ethical engagement opportunity open to young Tasmanians, please do not hesitate to email us at childcomm@childcomm.tas.gov.au or call us on (03) 6166 1366
