From The Acting Principal
Our school has been an incredibly busy place. Throughout the year our staff teaching team have been undertaking Professional Learning on a regular basis to progress our School Improvement Plan priorities. These sessions have included:
- Developing consistent understanding and language of the Learning Assets as part of an Inquiry Approach, exploring the skills and dispositions that best prepare our students for the future.
- The unpacking of current research into how students comprehend a range of differing texts, making connections with the Australian Curriculum.
- Embedding our Whole School Approaches to Positive Behaviour Support that were developed across 2021. This enables us to increase school wide consistency in the management of student behaviour and the use of Restorative Language across the school.
- Working with Leanne Macfarlane (Inclusive Practices Coach) to further develop the universal supports we have in place across the school. We have also considered those students who may need more targeted or individual support to maintain regulation and engage in learning.
The collaborative approach we are taking as a school is ensuring we have a common purpose and goals that are explicitly linked to our School Improvement Plan.
Communicating Learning Progress with Families
Meaningful communication about learning achievements, learning progress and student wellbeing is integral to supporting the partnerships between families and schools. This communication effectively promotes student learning and wellbeing. On Thursday the 22nd September (wk 9) and Tuesday 27th September (wk 10) of Term 3 Norwood Primary School are providing families with the opportunity for a two or three-way conversation focusing on learning progress, application to learning, wellbeing, and learning plan goals. Our teaching staff may also discuss and share feedback on evidence of learning throughout the term.
If you would like to make an appointment to see your child’s teacher(s) please make contact with our school office. Please note that in order to finalise times with teaching staff, all bookings must be made by COB Friday the 2nd September.
The 2022 School Satisfaction Survey
Every year the Department of Education conducts School Satisfaction Surveys to find out what your child(ren)'s school does well and where it may improve.
We would be grateful if you completed our online survey about Norwood Primary School. Your feedback is very important to help us inform our school planning and decision-making.
The survey is open now until Friday 23th September 2022 and should take about 5 minutes to complete.
Take the online survey by clicking this link or pasting it in your browser: https://ncv.microsoft.com/JgsRXGYSEd
The survey is carried out on a secure website and all responses are anonymous and confidential. All families in this school received the same survey link and no identifying information is collected. A summary of the survey results will be provided to schools with responses from individuals or small groups NOT disclosed to any Department of Education staff.
Please contact Norwood Primary School if you require any assistance.
Thank you for taking the time to fill in this survey.
