Investing in Education
This week the state budget was released. There are some major positives for schools outlined in the information released, in particular, additional funding directed at some of our most at risk children. The philosophy of ‘Education is the single most powerful driver for improving economic and social outcomes in Tasmania, including health, life expectancy, happiness and productivity’ is one we can all identify with. Within the budget detail there have been concerns raised by the Australian Education Union which include impacts on relief teachers and also on how resourcing of additional staff will be funded. More information will be provided as the budget is further unpacked.
Absences
As the winter season begins we have a number of students and staff who become unwell. As a school we endeavour to provide the best cover we can for your child’s class and ask that you please speak with a member of the leadership team if you have concerns. We also ask that if students are absent the office is notified as to the reason, this enables us to dismiss any absence alerts which may trigger department letters.
Uniform
During the past fortnight we have had a number of excursions take place with classes across the school. Our children have looked very smart in their school uniforms representing Norwood Primary School proudly. Thank you to all parents and helpers who have been able to support these events. A reminder that we do ask children to remove puffer jackets and coats in class, all rooms have heat pumps and we ensure they are at a comfortable temperature for learning.
