Plain Clothes Day

67.png

Norwood Primary School are having a free clothes day to support Movember.

Tomorrow, Thursday the 2December.

The purpose of Movember is to change the face of men’s health, another purpose is to raise awareness about one of the biggest health risks affecting men, which is prostate cancer. Movember is held in November, considering the name. Movember is when men grow moustaches to raise money for prostate cancer.

This month, Mr Walker, Mr Humphrey, Luke the groundsman, Mr Padgett, and Mr Driessen have attempted to grow a moustache and donate $1000 with the funds raised to go towards prostate cancer.

To support them, we will be having a free clothes day on Thursday 2nd December, where you can wear whatever clothes you like, making sure they are school appropriate. To be able to wear free clothes, you MUST bring a GOLD COIN donation and give it to your teachers.

WHAT IS PROSTATE CANCER?

Prostate cancer develops when irregular cells in the prostate gland grow in a wild way, forming a nasty tumour.

Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer diagnosed in men in Australia and the third most common cause of cancer death. It is estimated that 18,110 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed in Australia in 2021. One in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer by the age of 85. It is more common in older men, with over 63% of cases diagnosed in men over 65 years of age.

The five-year survival rate for prostate cancer is 95%.
