From the Principal
Thank you families for your consideration with checking in when entering the school. Given what is happening in other states at present, I feel so fortunate to live in Tasmania. The Department of Education continues to provide updated information from Public Health. We will continue to provide any information required to families in a timely manner. At times, particularly if information is shared on a weekend, we may need to do this through our Facebook page. Where possible, however, we will either send a whole school text or email for larger bodied information.
All Department of Education schools are required to have a plan for the event of a snap lockdown.
Are your contact details up to date? In the event of a medical emergency or illness it is crucial that we have the correct numbers to contact parents/carers. The school also frequently uses text and email to share important information with families, if we don’t have your correct email address and mobile number you could miss important messages from the school.
In the event of a snap lockdown this is how we will communicate with families.
You can update your contact details in person at the office, over the phone, text (0407 665 749) or email norwood.primary@education.tas.gov.au
Uniforms
With the current cold weather, we have noticed an increase in children wearing hoodies and other non-uniform jackets/ jumpers. Please talk with us if you require some support with obtaining a Norwood Primary School jacket or jumper. Any overcoat is acceptable, however, students will be required to remove these within the classroom. We also ask the students with hair longer than shoulder length to have their hair tied back.
End of day pick up
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our families for your perseverance as we have worked through a system for pick up in the Drop off and Pick up zone. Generally, students have been wonderful in understanding where to wait and also the need to wait for their pickup person to move upwards towards the steps. The need for them to wait for cars to move upwards is to decrease the amount of traffic waiting on the road to pull in to the zone whilst children are getting into cars. Please remember to keep moving towards the top of this zone as the cars move.
Kind regards, Karen
