NPS Cross Country Carnival

Last Thursday we held our Cross County for all grades here at Norwood Primary School. The day saw plenty of excellent participation from all grades, great individual performances and many smiling faces. Throughout the day, it was great to welcome so many parents and spectators to our school to watch our Cross Country Carnivals.

Our Early Childhood ran their best in the morning, with enthusiasm and participation very strong. Each runner found their way to the finish line with support from spectators as well as our school House Captains, collecting a sticker for their efforts at the finishing line.

The 3/4 Carnival in the middle block meant the start of our House Competition. With Wattle winning by one point in the Athletics Carnival, students knew that each point they got for participating could mean the difference by their house. Grade 3’s were racing for their first chance to represent Norwood at the LSSSA Cross Country Carnival next week, providing some very close races.

The 5/6 Carnival in the afternoon saw the best weather of the day as well as some extremely exciting races. With Waratah taking a slim lead into this Carnival post the 3/4 events, tension was high between all the houses. Before the final (Grade 6 boy) race of the day, Banksia had a slim lead. With Banksia showing strong efforts in the last race, they pulled ahead and took out their first Carnival of the year.

Congratulations goes to all our students who performed with such enthusiasm and showed strong support for their fellow runners.

Congratulations to the following students who have been selected to represent NPS at next Friday's LSSSA Cross Country Carnival. As information letter has been sent home with these students.
