Building your child’s vocabulary assists with their reading.

Vocab plays an important part in learning to read and is the key to reading comprehension.  Readers cannot understand what they are reading without knowing what most of the words mean.

If you are reading a book and get to a word your child may not know stop and say “Do you know what that word means?”  If they do not know what it means have a chat about it and use it in several different contexts.
