Long Serving Staff
Recently recognised employees of the department include Caroline Gale (Prep teacher) and Helen Birch (Administration clerk). While they recently received a 25 year gift of recognition from the department, we have given them key questions and asked them to share their responses.
Caroline Gale (Prep teacher):
What school other than Norwood do you have a great fondness for?
Deloraine Primary was the first school I taught at in the North of the state in 2007. I loved it there and made many lifelong friendships with staff, students and parents.
How many years have you worked part-time?
I worked part time- 4 days a week for many years in Hobart and really only began full time in 2007 when I came up to the north of the state.
How has teaching changed for you over your career?
Teaching has changed a lot over the past 25 years…..more Professional Learning, more complex planning , accountability and the one I love - collaborative planning.

What has been the biggest change in your role over time?
Introduction of Edupoint system

What change would you most like to see to support student learners?
More times for older students to support younger learners, as children respond differently to children than adults.
Are children different to 15-20 years ago? And if so, how?
Children are more independant in some ways and due to social media are aware of and concerned about global events.
